Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to adopt a joint roadmap aimed at expanding comprehensive bilateral cooperation, signaling a new phase in their strategic partnership.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the UK’s Trade Envoy to Central Asia and Azerbaijan, John Alderdice. The talks focused on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, with particular emphasis on trade, investment, and economic modernization, The Caspian Post reports via the Uzbek president's press service.
As part of the visit, Lord Alderdice also held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov. The sides reviewed the current state of economic ties and outlined plans to further expand collaboration across key sectors.
Priority areas include developing transport and logistics infrastructure, modernizing airports, expanding renewable energy capacity, and increasing the use of public-private partnerships. The discussions also covered reforms of state-owned enterprises and banks, accelerating privatization efforts, and supporting Uzbek companies in accessing international financial markets, including the London Stock Exchange.
The roadmap is expected to deepen economic integration, attract foreign investment, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as an emerging economic hub connecting Europe and Central Asia.
