President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is set to visit Washington, D.C., from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, marking a significant step in strengthening strategic ties between the two countries.
Mirziyoyev will participate in the inaugural meeting of the newly established Peace Council, which will be held at the United States Institute of Peace, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The summit will focus on humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, as well as broader initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
As part of the visit, Mirziyoyev is also expected to engage in high-level economic discussions, including presentations of strategic investment projects and the signing of bilateral agreements involving major American companies and financial institutions. The meetings are expected to deepen economic cooperation and attract new U.S. investment into Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing economy.
The Peace Council was created at Trump’s initiative, with Uzbekistan joining as a founding member earlier this year during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
