Azerbaijan Detains Iraqi Citizen for Illegal Border Crossing from Armenia

The Azerbaijani State Border Service has stated that an Iraqi citizen was detained while attempting to illegally cross the state border from Armenia into Azerbaijan.

The incident occurred on September 1 in the area of the separate border division in Azerbaijan’s Gubadli district, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Azerbaijani State Border Service.

Border guards detected an individual trying to cross the border from the Armenian side.

“As a result of operational measures carried out in a difficult mountainous and forested terrain, Iraqi citizen Ali Emad Attallah Badravi, 23, was apprehended. Investigative and procedural measures are currently underway,” the State Border Service said.
