Khiva Hosts Inaugural Inter-Parliamentary Talks Between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, has arrived in Uzbekistan at the head of a parliamentary delegation to participate in the first Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Forum, scheduled to take place in Khiva on July 1-2.

The delegation was welcomed by Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports citing Caliber.

Alongside parliamentary representatives from both nations, delegates from the Youth Parliaments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are also set to take part in the forum, highlighting the event’s inclusive and forward-looking approach.

The primary objective of the forum is to deepen inter-parliamentary collaboration, facilitate the exchange of expertise in legislative processes and parliamentary oversight, and advance the implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels of government between the two countries. Discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation and aligning efforts across priority sectors.

The forum aims to culminate in the adoption of a comprehensive final document designed to enhance the legal frameworks underpinning the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. This accord is expected to serve as a foundation for executing joint initiatives and broadening cooperation in key areas including the economy, culture, education, and security.

By fostering closer parliamentary ties and promoting mutual understanding, the forum seeks to reinforce the longstanding and growing partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, contributing to regional stability and shared prosperity.
