ADB to Invest Over $10B in South Caucasus and Central Asia by 2030

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans to invest more than $10 billion by 2030 to strengthen regional connectivity, clean energy, digital transformation, and inclusive infrastructure across the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

Speaking at a press conference during the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Samarkand, ADB President Masato Kanda emphasized that regional integration is a key driver of growth and resilience, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

He highlighted the importance of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program, noting that the bank has supported cross-border trade and market integration for over two decades.

“Connectivity is one of the three main themes of this year’s meeting, and the South Caucasus and Central Asia have huge potential for deeper cooperation,” Kanda said, stressing that integration helps countries better withstand external shocks.

He noted that the planned investments will focus on building stronger links between people, businesses, and markets through a new digital corridor and a land-based fiber-optic network.
