Azerbaijan has appointed Samad Hasanov as its new Trade Representative for Central Asian countries, covering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

His office will be headquartered in Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

The trade representative plays a strategic role in deepening economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Central Asian region. The post is also responsible for promoting the Made in Azerbaijan brand, attracting foreign investment, and supporting the expansion of the country’s non-oil exports.

Hasanov has held various positions at the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (AZPROMO) since 2015. Prior to his new appointment, he served as director of AZPROMO’s Investment Promotion Department, a role he assumed in August 2023.
