Russian Gas Supplies to Central Asia Jump 22% in 2025

Russian gas deliveries to Central Asian countries-Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan-rose 22 per cent in 2025, slightly higher than the company’s earlier estimate of 20 per cent.

Gazprom confirmed it continues to reliably supply gas to neighboring countries, with exports to Central Asia and the South Caucasus increasing last year, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Gas shipments to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan grew by 22.2 per cent, while deliveries to Georgia jumped 40.4 per cent.

Uzbekistan became a net importer of natural gas in 2023, beginning purchases from Gazprom via the Central Asia-Center pipeline, which now operates in reverse flow. Gas deliveries to Uzbekistan rose from 1.28 billion cubic meters in 2023 to 5.64 billion cubic meters in 2024, with 2025 projections reaching 6 billion cubic meters.

Kyrgyzstan currently consumes around 500 million cubic meters of gas annually. Long-term contracts with Gazprom have been signed for future CHP-2 and Bishkekselmash power plants, guaranteeing gas supplies until 2040.
