Crime Rate in Georgia Rises Slightly in 2025, Clearance Rate Declines

The overall crime rate in Georgia rose by 2.26 per cent in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, bringing the total number of registered offenses to approximately 40,500.

Some 66.16 per cent of reported crimes were solved between January 1 and September 30, 2025 - a slight decrease from the 67.25 per cent clearance rate recorded during the same period in 2024, The Caspian Post reports per Georgian media.

The Interior Ministry noted that the highest resolution rates were observed in cases of murder, hostage-taking, coercion, threats, involvement in or support of the criminal underworld, and drug-related offenses.

However, the number of crimes related to endangerment and torture saw a significant increase compared to last year.

At the same time, Georgia reported no incidents of political, religious, or public obstruction; racial discrimination; restriction of rights of persons with disabilities; banditry; terrorism; or participation in international terrorism - a positive trend that has persisted for the past two years.
