Georgia and Türkiye have launched an electronic permit (e-permit) system for international road freight transport, marking a major step toward digitizing cross-border logistics.
The new system allows transport operators in both countries to obtain all required permits entirely online, eliminating the need for paper documentation, The Caspian Post reports via Georgia Online.
Bakur Mikadze, Director of Georgia's Land Transport Agency, said the digital platform will speed up the exchange of information, improve data security, reduce administrative delays, and make the management of international road freight transport more efficient.
He added that the introduction of electronic permits will strengthen Georgia's position as a regional transit and logistics hub by streamlining cargo flows between Europe and Asia.
Georgian authorities also said they plan to expand the digital permit system to other partner countries, further supporting regional connectivity and trade.
