Georgian Court Freezes Accounts of Seven NGOs Accused of Funding Illegal Protests

The Tbilisi City Court approved a prosecutor’s request to freeze the bank accounts of seven Georgian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) accused of financing illegal protests.

The ongoing investigation examines allegations of sabotage, support to a foreign organization engaged in hostile activities against Georgia, and mobilization of funds for actions against the constitutional order and national security, The Caspian Post informs via the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office.

The authorities said that in 2024, the NGOs provided material and organizational support to individuals participating in protests, including help with fines and legal defense.

“These actions ultimately encouraged illegal activities and weakened law enforcement efforts. Freezing the bank accounts is intended to prevent further misuse of funds,” the statement added.
