Azerbaijan has started importing fish roe substitutes from Kazakhstan, marking the first delivery from the country in 14 years.
From January to October 2025, Azerbaijan imported 62 tons of fish roe substitutes worth $845,000. This represents a 29 per cent increase in volume and a twofold rise in value compared to the same period in 2024, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Russia remained a key supplier, providing 17.3 tons (-15 per cent) valued at $467,000 - double last year’s value. Belarus exported 30 tons (+58 per cent) worth $227,000 (+58 per cent), while China supplied 8.1 tons valued at $94,000, marking its first delivery. Iran contributed 5 tons (-34 per cent) worth $29,000 (-6 per cent).
Notably, Kazakhstan shipped fish roe substitutes to Azerbaijan for the first time in 14 years, delivering 1.88 tons valued at $20,310.
