Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has begun his official visit to Kazakhstan, where he was welcomed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a formal ceremony at the Palace of Independence in Astana.
President Tokayev personally greeted the Georgian prime minister before they introduced members of their official delegations. An honor guard ceremony followed, featuring a welcoming report by the commander of the guard and the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Georgia, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The sides then walked along the ceremonial carpet to the State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan before beginning closed-door talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations.
Kobakhidze's visit is expected to advance cooperation in key areas, with the two countries set to discuss expanding political dialogue, economic ties, transport connectivity, and regional partnership. Several bilateral documents, including a strategic partnership declaration, are also expected to be signed during the visit.
