Japan Explores Oil Imports from Kazakhstan

Japan is reportedly considering importing oil from Kazakhstan as regional tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

The potential move is part of Tokyo’s broader strategy to diversify its oil supply sources, reducing reliance on a single region. Currently, Japan imports roughly 90 per cent of its oil from the Middle East, The Caspian Post reports via Japanese media.

Previously, reports indicated that Japan also plans to request support from the US to arrange oil shipments from Alaska in response to ongoing Middle East instability.

Diversifying imports could help Japan secure energy supplies amid a volatile global market and rising geopolitical risks.
