Kazakh President Signs Law to Boost Subsoil Investment

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed amendments to the Subsoil and Subsoil Use Code.

The changes aim to attract investment, improve transparency, and digitalize subsoil management in Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Key changes include:

Priority rights for strategic investors in large industrial and innovation projects.

Domestic content requirements raised from 50 per cent to 70 per cent in mineral exploration and extraction.

Electronic auctions introduced for subsoil use rights.

Strengthened liability for false reporting and stricter permit enforcement.

Creation of a unified digital platform for subsoil management, linking government bodies, subsoil users, and stakeholders.

National Geological Service designated as the central operator for geology under state control.

The law is expected to enhance subsoil sector efficiency, attract foreign investment, and support sustainable resource development across Kazakhstan.
