Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has welcomed Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin in Astana to discuss strengthening their strategic partnership through increased trade, industrial cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
President Tokayev emphasized that trade between Kazakhstan and Belarus is flourishing, reaching $900 million to $1 billion, with Kazakhstan ranking as Belarus’ second-largest trading partner, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
“Your visit underscores the depth of our cooperation and our shared commitment to further strengthen our strategic partnership,” President Tokayev said, extending greetings to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Prime Minister Turchin reaffirmed Belarus’ dedication to advancing practical initiatives set by both countries’ leaders. He praised Kazakhstan’s sustained economic growth and emphasized that mutual trade continues to rise.
Over the first eight months of 2025, bilateral trade grew by 20 per cent year-over-year, with 12 joint industrial projects worth $204 million already implemented and three more underway.
The visit follows a recent phone conversation between President Tokayev and President Lukashenko, further underscoring the countries’ commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation.
