Kazakh Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev has said that Kazakhstan is resuming suspended routes and launching new domestic and international flights as part of efforts to improve regional connectivity and boost tourism.
Sauranbayev made these remarks at a government meeting, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He noted that a total of 42 flights are currently operating across the country, assisting to improve access to remote regions and support the development of domestic tourism. He added that nine domestic routes are set to be resumed in the near future.
In addition, the ministry plans to launch or restart 15 international flights, including routes to Vienna, Rome, Shanghai, Tokyo, Riyadh, Larnaca, Amman, Dammam, Kashgar, Delhi, Riga, Bishkek (from Shymkent), Warsaw, Urumqi (from Shymkent), and Abu Dhabi.
The minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve service quality at airports. To reduce queues and speed up passenger processing, airports in Astana and Almaty have introduced the Q-gate system, significantly cutting handling times.
Earlier reports noted that Kazakhstan’s tourism sector attracted more than KZT 1.2 trillion ($2.392 billion) in investments, underscoring the growing importance of air connectivity for the country’s economic and tourism development.
