Addressing the Kazakhstan‑Azerbaijan Business Forum in Astana, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Aidar Abildabekov has emphasised the dynamic and growing trade‑economic dialogue between the two nations.
“In 2024, trade turnover between our countries amounted to $534 million, of which $485.3 million accounted for the export of Kazakh products, and $48.6 million for imports from Azerbaijan. For January-August 2025, mutual trade reached $343.3 million, with Kazakhstan’s exports totalling $290.8 million, while imports from Azerbaijan grew by over 58%,” he noted, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Kazakhstan’s exports to Azerbaijan are dominated by wheat, oil, petroleum products and foodstuffs. Imports from Azerbaijan, meanwhile, include metal structures, aluminium, polymers, alcoholic beverages and fruits.
Highlighting opportunities yet to be tapped, Abildabekov stated that the potential for mutual trade remains strong. “Kazakhstan proposes expanding its export basket by including a wide range of agricultural products totalling about 14.5 million tons: from grains and oilseeds to processed goods such as flour, sunflower oil, and potatoes. These products could form the basis for mutual trade and add new practical dimensions to the agricultural partnership between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.”
He stressed that these efforts will complement the organisation of the forthcoming Kazakhstan‑Azerbaijan Business Forum and the broader bilateral agenda for trade and industrial cooperation.
