Kazakhstan’s Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry and Israel’s Regional Cooperation Ministry signed a memorandum of mutual understanding, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation in water management.
The agreement, signed by Kazakh Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and Israeli Minister David Amsalem, focuses on modernizing water infrastructure, implementing water-saving technologies, efficient resource use, and water reuse, as well as exchange of expertise in innovation, remote sensing, and digitization of water monitoring systems, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
The memorandum also covers flood and drought risk management, scientific cooperation, and joint training programs for water management specialists. During the signing ceremony, the ministers met with Israeli companies to explore agricultural water-saving projects and opportunities for training Kazakh specialists at Israeli enterprises.
Israel’s advanced experience in managing water resources under challenging climatic conditions is expected to support Kazakhstan’s efforts to modernize its water management system and enhance sustainability.
This partnership comes shortly after Kazakhstan’s Majilis ratified the Protocol on Water and Health under the 1992 Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, further emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustainable water management.
