Kazakhstan Prepares to Sign TRACECA Single Transit Deal

Kazakhstan has drafted a government resolution to sign an agreement on a Single Transit Permit (STP) within the framework of the TRACECA international transport corridor.

The document has been posted for public discussion on the Open Regulatory Legal Acts website and will remain open for feedback until January 1, 2026, The Caspian Post reports via the Open Regulatory Legal Acts website.

The agreement sets out the rules governing international road freight transportation carried out in transit across the territories of the participating states using a single transit permit. It defines the conditions and procedures for issuing and applying the permit, as well as other provisions directly related to the STP.

The main objective of the agreement is to establish a unified transit permit mechanism aimed at simplifying and accelerating international road transport, enhancing transparency, advancing digitalization of procedures, and increasing transit flows along TRACECA routes.

The first practical results are expected after the agreement enters into force - 30 days following the receipt of the fourth notification from the participating parties. The annual STP usage cycle, which will run from January 1 to January 31 of the following year, is expected to ensure more stable planning and greater predictability of transit operations.

Explanatory materials note that implementing the agreement will improve coordination among relevant authorities, reduce border-crossing times, and enhance the efficiency of transit transport controls.
