Kazakhstan Reports 1.5x Growth in Petrochemical Production

Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov has said that Kazakhstan’s petrochemical production surged 1.5 times in 2024, reaching 540,000 tons, and is projected to hit 589,700 tons this year.

Akkenzhenov made these remarks at a government meeting, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Current production is managed by Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries LLP, Neftekhim Ltd., Shymkent Chemical Company, and Atyrau Oil Refinery. Future growth will come from new projects, including alkylate, butadiene, carbamide, and polyethylene production.

A draft law “On the Petrochemical Industry” is being prepared to ensure transparent rules for long-term growth and innovation. Digitalization efforts, including SAP ERP integration, have cut contract preparation time by 80 per cent and improved efficiency across the industry.
