A delegation representing over 30 Kazakh publishing houses is showcasing Kazakhstan’s rich literary heritage and vibrant contemporary scene at the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the world’s premier international book exhibitions.
The event, which began on October 15 in Frankfurt am Main, features a broad collection of Kazakh literature-from modern works to rare editions of classic titles-highlighting the diversity and dynamism of the country’s publishing industry, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The Kazakh national pavilion, organized with support from the Ministry of Culture and Information, presents more than 350 titles spanning various genres and new authors. Key participants include well-known publishers such as Mektep, Almatykitap, Atamura, Arman PV, Steppe&World Publishing, Evero, Kazformoms, and AmalBooks.
The pavilion has drawn considerable international interest, with publishing leaders from Canada, China, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Germany, and the UK engaging in fruitful discussions about potential partnerships and collaborative projects.
A standout moment at the fair was the presentation of the monograph Abai’s Words of Wisdom: Perception Across Generations, translated into seven languages, which captivated attendees and received widespread praise.
Looking ahead, Kazakhstan plans to nominate Abai’s The Book of Words for inclusion in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register, further highlighting the poet’s enduring cultural significance.
