Kazakhstan, US Boost Ties with Focus on Innovation and AI

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev has held talks with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, during which the sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, emphasizing economic and investment cooperation and joint initiatives in innovation, artificial intelligence, education, and science.

Separate attention was paid to expanding collaboration in energy security and the extraction of critical minerals, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Kosherbayev highlighted that Astana views Washington as a key partner in advancing reforms and modernizing Kazakhstan’s economy. He underscored the country’s readiness to work together on sustainable growth initiatives and its strategic role in ensuring global energy security, the stability of supply chains, and sustainable development across Central Asia.

Both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in enhancing regional cooperation through the C5+1 dialogue platform, which marks its 10th anniversary this year. The platform, they noted, serves as a driver for regional integration, transport and logistics development, and long-term stability in the region.

The parties also discussed the upcoming visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Washington to participate in the C5+1 Summit at the invitation of US President Donald Trump.

Following the talks, both delegations confirmed their commitment to strengthening the expanded strategic partnership aimed at ensuring stability, security, and prosperity in Central Asia.

Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov also held talks with the US delegation led by Sergio Gor and Christopher Landau, underscoring the growing momentum in Kazakhstan-US relations.
