Mild Earthquake Hits Near Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Border

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck Uzbekistan near the Kazakh border on January 12.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the quake occurred at 13:41 (GMT+5), with its epicenter about 60 kilometers from Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Earlier on the same day, a separate earthquake near Almaty, Kazakhstan, registered a magnitude of 4.0, the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations reported. The tremors in Kazakhstan were not felt in nearby areas.
