Kyrgyz Minister of Transport and Communications Absattar Syrgabayev has met with his Kazakh counterpart Nurlan Sauranbayev at the Ak-Jol border checkpoint to discuss launching bus routes from Kyrgyzstan’s Karakol and Cholpon-Ata to Kazakhstan’s Almaty via Kegen, as well as exchanging additional permits for Kyrgyz freight carriers.
During the meeting, Syrgabayev congratulated Sauranbayev on his appointment and expressed support for the proposed initiatives, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
The discussion also addressed modernization and capacity upgrades at border checkpoints, with both sides agreeing to collaborate on improvements. Key issues in the road and transport sectors were further reviewed, and the ministers committed to holding additional bilateral meetings.
The talks concluded in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere, underscoring the ongoing efforts to strengthen cross-border transport and trade links between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
