Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz and Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas (KMG) have agreed to expand cooperation in deep hydrocarbon processing and accelerate joint energy initiatives.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Bakhodirjon Sidikov, Uzbekneftegaz Chairman, and Askhat Khassenov, KMG’s Chairman, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbekneftegaz.
The discussion focused on strengthening economic integration, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the oil and gas sector, and implementing practical joint projects.
Uzbekneftegaz noted that the partnership will enter a new phase, featuring accelerated collaboration, geological exploration, and development of promising directions in deep hydrocarbon processing.
KMG added that a joint working group with Uzbekneftegaz is currently analyzing geological and technical data for potential exploration sites in Kazakhstan.
The meeting also explored opportunities in petrochemicals, including the potential launch of linear alkylbenzene production, and emphasized knowledge exchange in industrial safety, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. These initiatives are part of a broader four-party memorandum involving KMG, Uzbekneftegaz, SOCAR, and Tatneft.
Khassenov underlined the importance of the partnership, stating: “We are confident that joint projects with our Uzbek colleagues will support regional energy development, the adoption of advanced technologies in the oil and gas sector, and strengthen the national economies of both countries.”
