FAO Opens Doors in Kyrgyzstan Following Presidential Approval

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a law ratifying the agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to establish a permanent FAO representative office in the country.

The move follows the April 24, 2025, agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the FAO in Bishkek, aimed at coordinating projects in food security and agricultural development, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) approved the law on September 25, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will now notify the FAO to finalize the process. The law will officially take effect 10 days after its publication, marking a new chapter in Kyrgyzstan’s collaboration with the UN on sustainable agriculture.
