Kyrgyzstan’s wrestling star Aiperi Medet Kyzy has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the United World Wrestling (UWW) global rankings.
The updated rankings were released following the conclusion of a major international tournament in Hungary, where Medet Kyzy competed in the 76 kg women’s freestyle category, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
She finished in third place, earning a bronze medal and 5,200 ranking points - enough to surpass Japan’s Yuka Kagami, who previously held the top spot.
Medet Kyzy, 25, is no stranger to the international wrestling stage. She is a silver and bronze medalist at the World Wrestling Championships, a three-time Asian champion, and has previously occupied the No. 1 ranking. Her consistent performances continue affirming her status as one of the world’s top athletes in women’s wrestling.
