The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security has prevented a potential armed attack at a school in Bishkek.
Counterterrorism operations conducted in coordination with international partners uncovered a pupil who had been exploring the possibility of carrying out a violent attack on teachers and classmates at one of the capital’s secondary schools, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
A criminal case has been opened under the Kyrgyz Criminal Code for “Threat of Committing a Terrorist Act.”
The State Committee for National Security also highlighted a rising trend of religious radicalization among minors. The Committee urged parents and teachers to engage in awareness efforts with children, pay close attention to their interests, and monitor their activity in the open information space to prevent potential threats.
