Kyrgyzstan is taking steps to cement its role as a regional leader in energy by launching the first international Energy Competence Center in Central Asia.
The initiative is designed to position the country at the forefront of education and innovation in the sector, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The agreement, signed during the EnergoProm forum in Kazan, brings together National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan Network Company. The partnership will train specialists to safely operate high-voltage power lines without shutting them down-an advanced skill critical for modern grids.
The center aims to go regional, preparing highly skilled personnel not only for Kyrgyzstan but also for Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, addressing the broader energy needs of Central Asia.
According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy, the center is part of a wider strategy to accelerate modernization of the country’s energy industry through innovation, training, and the development of specialized expertise.
By creating a regional hub for energy education, Kyrgyzstan is not just advancing its own infrastructure-it’s positioning itself as a key player in Central Asia’s energy future, supplying the skilled workforce needed to power the region.
