Kyrgyzstan Approves Issyk-Kul Sustainable Development Plan

Kyrgyzstan approves Issyk-Kul sustainable development plan until 2030, aiming to protect the lake, preserve the region’s biosphere, and boost local economic growth.

Ministries, local authorities, and scientific bodies will implement a detailed action plan with performance indicators to ensure environmental protection and improve residents’ quality of life, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Issyk-Kul Lake in northeastern Kyrgyzstan is one of the world’s largest alpine lakes, stretching 182 km long and 60 km wide. Known as the “warm lake” for never freezing despite its high altitude, it is a key ecological and economic resource, supporting fishing, tourism, and local communities. The lake’s scenic beauty and mineral-rich waters make it a popular destination for visitors from across Central Asia.
