Deputy Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers and Minister for Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, has met with a Chinese delegation led by Ho Weiping to discuss enhancing agricultural cooperation, including the joint production of vegetable and medicinal plant seeds.
Gansu Province, which contributes up to 70 per cent of China’s seed production, is home to leading agricultural research institutes, making it a key partner in the initiative, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
The delegation also discussed the eradication of thorny altygana and caragana bushes in Kyrgyzstan’s Suusamyr Valley. Plans include not only clearing these pasture-obstructing plants but also processing them into animal feed and fertilizers, potentially through a joint venture.
Further discussions addressed the supply of specialized Chinese agricultural equipment for potato cultivation, knowledge sharing, and training of skilled Kyrgyz specialists. Experts from both countries will collaborate closely on these initiatives.
Officials noted that these partnerships are expected to boost bilateral trade, which totaled $23 billion in 2024 and reached $22 billion in the first nine months of 2025, with Kyrgyz agricultural exports doubling during this period.
