Kyrgyzstan, China Ramp Up Energy Ties with New Projects in Focus

Kyrgyzstan is moving to strengthen its energy partnership with China after high-level talks and business meetings highlighted strong investor interest in the country’s power sector.

Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibrayev and presidential envoy Bakyt Torobayev joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Green and Sustainable Development Forum in China’s Zhejiang Province, where cooperation in clean energy and infrastructure took center stage, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

A key moment came in Hangzhou, where more than 150 business leaders gathered for a Kyrgyz-Chinese forum aimed at unlocking new joint projects. Officials showcased major investment opportunities across Kyrgyzstan’s energy sector, opening the door for direct dialogue with Chinese companies.

Interest was immediate. Representatives from leading Chinese firms explored potential participation in large-scale projects, raising detailed questions about implementation and investment conditions.

Ibrayev noted that Kyrgyzstan is ready to work closely with international partners, assuring investors of full support for strategic initiatives in the energy sector.

As part of the visit, the delegation also toured the Kerun Intelligent Control transformer equipment plant, gaining insight into advanced manufacturing technologies.

The meetings concluded with both sides signaling readiness to deepen cooperation - a move that could accelerate Kyrgyzstan’s energy development and attract fresh foreign investment.
