Kyrgyzstan, China Reaffirm Commitment to Railway Megaproject and Economic Growth

A high-level meeting has been held in Bishkek between Kyrgyz officials and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, reaffirming the two nations’ deepening strategic and economic partnership.

At the heart of the discussions was the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing regional integration and diversifying Central Asia’s logistics routes, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Officials emphasized that the railway is not just a transportation corridor but a symbol of regional connectivity. Construction work on the Kyrgyz section has already begun, with local authorities ensuring timely execution of all related organizational tasks.

Zhao described the railway as a "bridge of friendship and cooperation" among the participating nations and expressed confidence in the project’s successful realization.

During the visit, an exhibition showcasing the project's scope and progress was unveiled.

China remains one of Kyrgyzstan’s top trade and investment partners. Currently, more than 3,000 Chinese-funded enterprises are registered in the country, active in sectors such as trade, construction, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, tourism, and services.

Kyrgyz officials noted that this robust business presence reflects the strength of bilateral economic ties and forms a solid base for future large-scale joint ventures.
