Kyrgyzstan is calling for accelerated cooperation in industrial and agricultural sectors within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), emphasizing the need to break down trade barriers and foster deeper collaboration.
Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev took part in the recent meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in Minsk, Belarus, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
At the session, Kasymaliev highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s strategic priorities within the EAEU, calling for accelerated collaboration in the agricultural sector and the urgent removal of remaining trade and regulatory barriers.
Emphasizing the broader significance of the Union, he described the EAEU as “a space of trust and inclusion,” beyond just legal frameworks and institutional structures.
“Our Union is not merely a collection of legal documents and processes. Above all, it is a space grounded in mutual trust and inclusivity, built upon a shared history and a common vision for the future. Today, we advance this mission by forging new connections across transport, energy, digital technologies, and trade,” Kasymaliev stated.
Focus on Agro-Industrial and Industrial Cooperation
Kasimyaliev urged for the swift launch of a financial assistance mechanism to support joint projects in the agro-industrial complex. He outlined key areas for enhanced agricultural cooperation, including:
Developing joint projects for processing agricultural products to generate added value within the Union.
Implementing advanced technologies such as modern irrigation, seed production, and organic farming techniques.
The Cabinet Chairman also emphasized the importance of long-term interstate programs aimed at developing high-tech industries, underscoring the need to strengthen industrial collaboration across member states.
Transport and Barrier Removal as Strategic Priorities
Kasimyaliev underscored the EAEU’s strategic goal of building a sustainable and integrated transport network linking East to West and North to South.
He identified the complete elimination of barriers, along with reducing exemptions and restrictions on the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor within the EAEU internal market, as essential priorities.
“The Union must evolve into a space where every citizen can freely move and work,” Kasymaliev stressed. “We must build a favorable environment that allows our citizens to work comfortably and productively in any member country.”
