Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye are considering extending their visa-free regime from 90 to 180 days.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting in Ankara between Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, and Numan Kurtulmuş, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, The Caspian Post reports via Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz parliament).
The sides reviewed ways to strengthen political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, placing particular emphasis on expanding inter-parliamentary ties. Turgunbek uulu highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue through relevant committees and parliamentary friendship groups.
He noted that last year’s visit by a Turkish parliamentary delegation to Kyrgyzstan elevated bilateral parliamentary relations to a new level, expressing confidence that the current talks would further energize cooperation. This includes regular joint events and greater use of international platforms such as TURKPA.
Economic cooperation was also high on the agenda. The parties discussed the goal of boosting bilateral trade to $5 billion and improving Kyrgyzstan’s investment climate, with an invitation to Turkish investors to engage in priority sectors including energy, mining, and manufacturing.
Among the concrete proposals, the plan to extend visa-free stays to 180 days stood out as a move expected to facilitate business, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
