Police officers in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan have uncovered three illegally operating rehabilitation centers, where patients were subjected to abuse and dangerous treatment practices.
Two people died in one of the facilities, triggering a major investigation by security services, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
According to Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, the illegal centers were operating under the names “Idalgo,” “Reshenie,” and “Bishkek-Mayak.”
Patients Abused and Restrained
Investigators revealed that staff at the centers frequently used harsh and unconventional methods to control patients. These reportedly included physical force, the use of electric shock devices, restraining individuals by tying them to chairs or beds, and placing them in isolation rooms.
Police officers also discovered powerful psychotropic drugs in the facilities, which were administered to patients without proper oversight or medical authorization.
Two Deaths Trigger Criminal Probe
The most serious violations were reported at the “Bishkek-Mayak” center, where two patients died under unclear circumstances. The deaths prompted a full-scale investigation into the operations and treatment methods used at the facility.
Seven individuals, including managers and staff members from the three centers, have been detained. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the violations and possible criminal responsibility.
