Azerbaijan, Georgia Hold New Round of Political Consultations

A new round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Georgia took place in Baku on February 17.

The Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, engaged in talks with the Georgian delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

The sides praised the existing high-level strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, stressing the significance of bilateral cooperation in ensuring security and economic prosperity in the region.

The officials hailed the dynamics of reciprocal visits and political dialogue between the two countries, underscoring the need to continue cooperation within international organizations and multilateral platforms.

They reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation in trade, transit, economy, energy, transport, humanitarian efforts, and education.

The Deputy FMs also highlighted the crucial role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in developing bilateral ties.

The Georgian side was briefed on the new post-conflict realities in the region, as well as on Azerbaijan’s peace agenda and large-scale reconstruction efforts in its liberated territories.
