Mongolia, Türkiye Forge Closer Historical and Cultural Partnerships

Mongolia and Türkiye are taking significant steps to strengthen their historical and cultural partnership, building on shared heritage and ongoing collaborative projects aimed at deepening ties between the two nations.

Zulphar Sarkhad, Member of Mongolia’s State Great Khural (unicameral parliament) and Head of the Mongolia-Türkiye Parliamentary Group, together with Deputy Head Bum-Ochir Dulam, met with a delegation led by Kayhan Türkmenoğlu of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly, where Sarkhad highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.

Sarkhad also welcomed the elevation of their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership following Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh’s visit to Türkiye earlier this year.

He noted that this milestone significantly boosted cooperation across social and economic sectors and expressed gratitude to MP Türkmenoğlu for his contributions to deepening the relationship.

Bum-Ochir Dulam acknowledged MP Türkmenoğlu’s initiative in organizing the Van Province program during the presidential visit and highlighted ongoing archaeological efforts at the summer palace site of Ilkhaan Khulegu in Khan Village, Van Province. He stressed the importance of developing this endeavor into a joint cultural project symbolizing historical cooperation between the two countries.

In response, MP Türkmenoğlu welcomed President Khurelsukh’s visit to Van Province and underscored the discovery of Ilkhaan Khulegu’s summer palace as a significant cultural link. He also praised the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for its role in the Tonyukuk Memorial Museum project in Mongolia’s Nalaikh District, describing it as a bridge connecting the two nations culturally. MP Türkmenoğlu reaffirmed Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to supporting such collaborative initiatives.
