Russia Thwarts Planned Terror Attack in Perm

Russian security services have said that they thwarted a planned terrorist attack targeting a railway bridge in the Perm Region.

The suspect is a Russian citizen, 54, who was detained in the city of Chusovoy, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

The Federal Security Service claims the man was acting under the influence of individuals linked to Ukrainian security services.

Investigators say the suspect first transferred 350,000 rubles (about $4,400) to so-called “secure accounts” after being contacted by phone scammers via Telegram. The callers allegedly posed as law enforcement and special services officers.

According to the Federal Security Service, the man was later instructed to assemble a homemade explosive device under the pretext of assisting to recover the lost money. Authorities say the device was intended for use in an attack on critical railway infrastructure.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released by Russian law enforcement agencies.
