Russian forces have launched a combined missile and drone attack on Kharkiv, damaging civilian and energy infrastructure and injuring two people.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that the city was hit by coordinated strikes involving both missiles and drones. Two civilians were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
In the Industrialnyi district, two schools were damaged by the strikes. More serious consequences were reported for the city’s energy infrastructure, which was hit and caused major disruptions to electricity supply. Emergency repair teams were immediately dispatched to affected areas to stabilize the situation.
“We are working around the clock to restore electricity to Kharkiv residents as soon as possible,” Syniehubov said.
The latest attack follows a series of strikes on Kharkiv and the surrounding region over recent days. Earlier on January 26, Russian strikes on critical infrastructure left several settlements in the Chuhuiv area without power.
Power instability also disrupted the city’s transport system. Train services on the Saltivska and Oleksiivska metro lines were temporarily suspended, while the Kharkiv City Council later confirmed that electricity fluctuations affected electric public transport operations.
On January 25, additional strikes were reported in the Nemyshlianskyi and Kyivskyi districts, injuring a civilian woman and hospitalizing a 79-year-old resident. Earlier, on the night of January 24, Kharkiv was targeted by a large-scale drone attack, with around 25 drones striking the city over several hours and damaging residential buildings.
Local authorities say emergency crews continue restoration work, while damage assessments and security measures remain ongoing across the affected districts.
