Türkiye Invites Public to Name Newborn Lions

A nationwide public vote is underway in Türkiye to name three lion cubs recently born at Gaziantep Natural Park, with the final decision to be made through a social media poll.

The cubs are the offspring of two lions, Sultan and Nil, which were gifted to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by Sudanese ex-President Omar al-Bashir in 2018, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Now six weeks old, the cubs are healthy and thriving under the care of wildlife specialists at the park. The naming process has been opened to the public in an effort to engage citizens and raise awareness about wildlife conservation.
