Russian forces have carried out two waves of strikes on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, damaging private homes and sparking fires.
Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov said that the city was attacked twice during the night. The second wave included four separate strikes, which hit residential areas and caused damage to private houses. A fire broke out in one of the affected homes but was quickly extinguished by emergency responders, The Caspian Post reports via Fedorov's message on Telegram.
Preliminary information indicates that no casualties were recorded.
The first strike occurred at around 1:00 a.m. (GMT+2), prompting emergency services to respond to a fire at the impact site. Authorities later confirmed that no one was injured during that incident either.
The wider Zaporizhzhia region was also targeted. In the town of Vilnyansk, strikes triggered additional fires and damaged residential buildings.
Zaporizhzhia and surrounding areas remain frequent targets of Russian attacks, with drones, missiles, and aerial bombs repeatedly used against urban and civilian infrastructure. Earlier this month, on January 21, similar strikes damaged private homes and utility facilities in the city.
Local authorities say assessments are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage.
