Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted residential neighborhoods and industrial facilities in Russia’s Volgograd region, injuring several people and damaging infrastructure.
Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov reported that private homes and vehicles were damaged in the city and nearby districts, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.
Three people were hospitalized following the attack. He also confirmed strikes on industrial enterprises but did not specify which facilities were hit.
Oil Refinery Operations Suspended
The Volgograd oil refinery - owned by Lukoil and accounting for around 5 per cent of Russia’s total refining capacity - suspended oil processing earlier this week after a fire broke out following a drone strike.
The refinery disruption highlights growing risks to critical energy infrastructure as cross-border attacks intensify.
Strikes Continue on Both Sides
The developments come amid escalating drone and missile exchanges between Russia and Ukraine. Diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire have so far failed to produce tangible results.
Ukrainian officials said Russia launched drone and ballistic missile attacks on cities including Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa. According to Ukrainian authorities, the strikes damaged energy infrastructure and left tens of thousands of residents without heating, electricity, and water.
As both sides continue targeting strategic and civilian infrastructure, concerns are mounting over further disruption to energy supplies and civilian life on both sides of the conflict.
