Kylian Mbappe delivered a stunning hat-trick as Real Madrid, the record 15-time Champions League winners, dominated FC Kairat Almaty 5-0 in the league phase match in Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
After a tough defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday, Xabi Alonso’s side bounced back emphatically on the road, traveling over 7,000 kilometers for the game, The Caspian Post reports.
Mbappe’s treble, along with goals from Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz, secured Madrid’s commanding win and lifted them to the top of the group standings.
Kairat, making their debut in the tournament proper after beating Celtic in qualifying, struggled to contain the French superstar despite their own long journey east.
Reflecting on the recent setback against Atletico, Mbappe told Movistar, “We can't forget what happened this weekend, but we have to keep thinking about it and working to be better each day and each week so we don't have another night like that.”
The forward has now scored 13 goals in nine games across all competitions this season, though he showed some frustration after missing a good chance in the second half.
