The eighth International Swimming Tournament has wrapped up in Dushanbe, bringing together athletes from six countries to mark the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.
The event concluded with an official award ceremony celebrating standout performances, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.
The competition featured eight teams representing Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and three teams from the host nation, Tajikistan.
The Russian national team emerged as the overall winner, topping the medal standings with 13 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze. Belarus claimed second place with a strong showing of 8 gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze, while Kazakhstan secured third with 3 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
Uzbekistan followed in fourth place, while Tajikistan’s first team (Tajikistan-1) finished fifth, collecting 2 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Tajikistan-2 and Tajikistan-3 also competed, contributing to the host nation’s robust representation.
Medals, diplomas, and commemorative gifts were awarded to top-performing athletes and teams.
The Tajik National Swimming Federation highlighted the tournament’s growing significance, calling it a vital platform for nurturing local talent and enhancing international sports diplomacy through swimming.
