Russia and Tajikistan have agreed to expand transport cooperation, including the resumption of passenger rail service on the Moscow-Dushanbe route.
The agreement was reached during talks between Deputy Transport Minister of Tajikistan Shoista Saidmurodzoda and her Russian counterpart Dmitry Zverev, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
One of the key outcomes is the planned restoration of direct train services between Moscow and Dushanbe, aimed at improving mobility for passengers between the two countries.
Beyond passenger travel, both sides agreed to develop new transport corridors for cargo shipments, strengthening logistics links across the region.
Tajikistan is expected to expand procurement of railway equipment from Russia, while Russian companies may take part in Tajikistan’s logistics and infrastructure projects.
Officials also highlighted the importance of alternative transport routes and removing infrastructure bottlenecks. Plans include launching regular bus services between cities in both countries.
