Tajik President Sends Heartfelt Condolences to Russia After Deadly Amur Plane Crash

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has sent a telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing profound condolences over the tragic crash of a passenger plane in Russia’s Amur Region that resulted in the loss of everybody on board.

“In deep sorrow, I received the heartbreaking news of the casualties caused by the crash of a passenger aircraft in the Amur Region of the Russian Federation. I extend my sincere condolences and support to the families and loved ones of those who perished,” the message stated, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.

The accident occurred on July 24, when an Antonov An-24 aircraft operated by Angara Airlines, traveling from Khabarovsk to Tynda via Blagoveshchensk, failed to land on its first attempt. The plane went around for a second approach but subsequently lost contact with air traffic control.

Rescue teams later located the wreckage on a mountainside approximately 15 kilometers from Tynda. Emergency responders spent several hours reaching the remote crash site through dense forest.

All 48 people on board-42 passengers and six crew members-were confirmed dead, according to the Russian Investigative Committee.

In response to the tragedy, a period of mourning has been declared in the Amur Region.
