A youth-focused legal forum in Dushanbe, Tajikistan has spotlighted the growing role of young professionals in advancing gender equality and protecting women’s rights.
Held at the Serena Dushanbe Hotel under the EU-supported WEMJUST project, the event aligned with the global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Legal experts and students gathered to discuss discrimination, harmful stereotypes, and challenges women face in society and the legal sector. A key presentation by Tajik National University student Shukrona Qudratullozoda stressed that youth must take the lead in prevention by raising awareness, supporting survivors, engaging with institutions, and promoting human rights education.
The forum also addressed rising cyberviolence, with advocate Muhtasham Karimzoda warning of increased cases of stalking, extortion, and the unauthorized sharing of private content online-citing the notorious “Hodisa.tv” page as an example.
Closing the event, project coordinator Najiba Shirinbekova emphasized that modern lawyers must adapt quickly to new challenges to effectively defend human rights and build a safer, more equitable society.
