Tajikistan’s New Competitions Spotlight Spouses and Outstanding Children

Tajikistan has officially kicked off two significant national competitions: “Best Spouse” (Behtarin Hamsar) and “A Child - the Garden of Parents” (Farzand - Boghi Padaru Modar).

These initiatives aim to promote strong family ties and responsible parenting across the country, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Organized by the Committee on Women and Family Affairs as part of the State Family Development Program 2024-2028, the competitions are set to be conducted in two stages. The first stage began on July 10 in local communities and will continue until July 30. The second stage will take place between August 10 and 20 in cities and districts. The national finals are scheduled for September.

While each competition will be judged separately, the final award ceremony for both will be held together.

The competitions seek to strengthen the family institution, raise public awareness about the importance of healthy family relationships, and enhance parents’ accountability in raising and educating children.

Open exclusively to members of exemplary families, the contests also aim to reduce divorce rates and reinforce core family values throughout Tajikistan.

Eight winning couples and eight outstanding children will be selected for the final round, representing the following regions:

Dushanbe - 1 couple and 1 child

Sughd Region - 1 couple and 1 child

Khatlon Region - 1 couple and 1 child

Mountain-Badakhshan Autonomous Region - 1 couple and 1 child

Districts of Republican Subordination - 4 couples and 4 children

Participation requires submitting copies of passports and birth certificates for all family members.

Selection Criteria:

For spouses: Preference is given to husbands who are heads of families, maintain strong familial bonds, support their families’ educational and professional growth, foster diligence and patriotism in their children, and create a nurturing environment for development.

For children: Candidates must be pupils at secondary schools, students in vocational, or higher education institutions, actively involved in academic competitions, sports, cultural, and civic activities, demonstrating exemplary behavior and respect for elders.
