Tajikistan is gearing up for a major clean-energy transformation, aiming to produce 3,000 MW of electricity from solar and wind plants by 2030.
The update came during the 67th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council in Dushanbe, where officials highlighted Tajikistan’s growing focus on renewables alongside its vast hydropower potential, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.
Several major hydropower projects are already moving forward - most notably the massive Rogun Hydropower Plant, which will eventually generate 3,780 MW of electricity and become one of the region’s most powerful energy facilities.
Authorities stressed that the shift toward renewable energy is a national priority. Concrete projects in solar and wind power have already begun, with plans in motion to fully reach the 3,000 MW target by 2030.
